The new School Year will begin on 1 September 2010. Please come back in full school uniform. The first day arrangements will be:

8:05 - 8:10 a.m. Roll-call

8:10 - 9:20 a.m. Assembly (Beginning of School Service)

9:20 - 10:00 a.m. Recess

10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Form Period

11:00 - 12:00 noon House Meeting (Arthur: Gymnasium; Featherstone - Hall; Goodban: Lecture Hall; Piercy: Day Boys' Dining Room; Sargent: New Day Boys' Dining Room; Sykes: Covered Playground; Lowcock - SIP Covered Playground)

12:00 noon School Ends (No afternoon session)

To ease the traffic congestion of the School Drive, please use public transports.

World Choir Games 2010

This is the 5th triumphant return of the Diocesan Boys' School from the World Choir Games. The 6th World Choir Games was held in Shaoxin, China from 15th - 26th July 2010, involving 472 choirs from 83 nations with more than 20,000 participants coming together to these unique choir games, the world’s biggest choral competition, which is held in the spirit of the Olympic ideal. The Diocesan Boys' School Choir, consisting of 70 boys, participated in the Young Male Choirs category and is awarded the World Champion Gold Medal with a remarkable 90.63 points, this is their 3rd consecutive World Champion title. The Diocesan Schools Choral Society, in cooperation with Diocesan Girls' School, participated in the Musica Sacra category and is awarded the World Champion Gold Medal with 88.75 points. The Diocesan Girls' School choir participated in the Youth Choirs of Equal Voices category and is awarded the World Champion Gold Medal with 89.38 points.

Elite School Rugby Competition

"The Elite School Rugby Competition organized by the Standard Charter Bank and Hong Kong Rugby Football Union was held last Thursday. Our Rugby Team captured the Cup Champion in both A and B Grades. Congratulations to all our players who have trained intensively to achieve this fascinating result. Special thanks must be given to the staff and students who supported the Rugby Team."

The DBS Music Department, DBS Parent-Teacher Association, DBS Alumni Parents' Association, Diocesan School Old Boys' Association and DBS Fund Raising Committee proudly present to you - Homecoming Concert 2010.

The concerts will be held on Friday 9th July 2010 & Saturday 10th July 2010, 7:30pm at the Auditorium in Shatin Town Hall.

The tickets are priced at $50, $200 and $500 and will be on sale at URBTIX from Wednesday 9th June 2010.

Diocesan Boys' School is an IB World School

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of teachers and administrators, Diocesan Boys' School is pleased to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme starting September 2010. DBS is now an authorized IB world school. The first cohort of students will graduate in May 2012. For more information, please visit the IBO website or the DBS IB website.

New Zealand Eco-Tour 2010

A nine-day eco-educational tour will be held in New Zealand from 11th to 19th July 2010. New Zealand is famous for her beautiful scenery, farms, and unpolluted natural environment. All boys are welcomed to join. Application forms can be obtained from the General Office. The deadline for submitting the application form is 20th May 2010. Interviews for short-listed candidates will be held in the last week of May. The approximate cost for the tour is HK$24,000 (All expenses included. Boys with financial difficulties may write a letter to the Headmaster to seek partial allowance before the application deadline). 《音樂人生》電影放映會反應熱烈，現已滿座。是次放映會之門票以先到先得的形式派發，獲發門票的學生名單已詳列於附表內，敬請查閱。門票確認書將於4月19日前由班主任分發，觀眾請於當日出示該確認書。在此感謝　貴家長及子弟對是次放映會的支持，唯座位有限，未能向每位索票者提供門票，敬希原諒。為配合今屆香港電影金像獎頒獎典禮，《音樂人生》將再次公映，如有興趣，可留意4月底至5月初各大影院之公佈。

《音樂人生》於2009年由「香港電影評論學會」評選為「最佳影片」，是少有能獲得此殊榮的紀錄片打破了向來由劇情片得獎的常規。現誠邀各家長共來感受這一份觸動，並於映後座談會與張經緯導演、羅乃新老師、紀錄片發行人蔣顯斌先生共談電影、音樂、人生、夢想間的交替，也讓我們認識紀錄片的發展與製作，支持本土的獨立電影工作者。

The Inter-School Athletics Competition Finals was held on 12th March 2010. Once again we have captured the overall champion for the seventh consecutive year, as well as capturing the A Grade and C Grade Champion. Congratulations to all our athletes who have worked so hard to achieve this result. Thanks must be given to all students and teachers who have supported the Athletics Team. The 62nd Hong Kong Schools Music Festival will be held in March 2010. All Group Class events that are held in venues other than at Martha Boss Community Centre Hall are open to public. In addition, the Choir Finals were held on Friday, 26th March 2010. Our senior boys choir has won the title "Best Secondary School Boys' Choir of the Year". Our DBS & DGS senior mixed choir has won the title "Best Secondary School Mixed Voice Choir of the Year" and "The Most Outstanding Secondary School Choir of the Year". Promoting Rugby

DBS is delighted to announce a collaboration with the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union to "bring rugby home to DBS". The promotion was launched on January 11th at morning assembly by the Head of Rugby Services at RFU, Robbie McRobbie who made an inspiring address to our boys. The response from the boys has been outstanding with over 150 boys volunteering to join the coaching scheme. Our aim is quite simply to have DBS boys in the Hong Kong side for the 2016 Olympics! We won't be second best!

Carols at the Crib

The annual Christmas Carol Service will be held this year on Saturday 19th December at 3.30pm in the School Hall. The music will be led by the Primary Division Junior Choir and musicians. All are very welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served after the service at around 4.30. To Serve and To Lead: A History of the Diocesan Boys' School

To celebrate the school's 140th anniversary, we are launching a school history entitled "To Serve and To lead: A History of the Diocesan Boys' School, Hong Kong". The book not only covers the history of DBS, it also highlights the history of education in Hong Kong, from the early days of colonial rule to post-colonial trends.

The book, published by the HKU Press, is authored by Mr. Fung Yee Wang and Dr. Chan-Yeung Mo Wah Moira. Mr. Fung is an old boy (class 1955) and former teacher (1961-68) of the school. Dr. Chan-yeung is a former student of DGS who studied physics and chemistry in DBS from 1954 to 1957.
